Latest TEST & GO Rules to enter Thailand starting March 1, 2022

Good news for travelers and tourists who want to travel to Thailand as the government announced the updated and latest entry rules beginning 01 March 2022. So you still need to apply through Thailand Pass and obtain a Certificate of Entry. However, the prebooked hotel accommodation has been reduced to one night, one Covid – 19 RT-PCR testing upon arrival, one ATK testing on day 5, and the insurance policy requirement is now only USD 20 000.

According to the latest news, travelers can also enter through water and land entry points aside from arrival through airports alone. They specifically mentioned the opening of land borders in Song Khla, the border between Thailand and Malaysia, in Nong Khai, Udon Thani, a border between Thailand and Laos. It was not mentioned however that tourists can now do border runs through these entry points. We’ll wait for that.

For pre-arrival documentary requirements:

  1. Thailand Pass, which you can get on the consular website through https://tp.consular.go.th/.
  2. You need to show a negative RT-PCR test result taken within 72 hours before traveling.
  3. Insurance Policy with no less than USD 20 000 coverage. Thais and expats who have the Thai National Healtcare Coverage, I believe this is the Social Security System, are exempted from this requirement. They suggest that tourist should insure that the insurance policy covers the cost of treatment and other medical expenses related to Covid – 19 infection including hospital treatment, hospital isolation, or related quarantine.
  4. Proof of 1 night hotel accomodation in any SHA Extra Plus (SHA ++) hotel establishments including RT-PCR and ATK testing.
  5. A Certificate of Covid-19 Vaccination or Recovery in case you have been infected of Covid-19 before.

I believe this move of the government to ease the entry requirements for tourists and travelers who have been wanting to travel to Thailand, the land of smiles, will attract many visitors. With thousands of tourist arrivals for sure, the tourism industry of Thailand will be back to normal in no time. So, happy traveling and enjoy Thailand once more.
